Fire Code Inspections 

The Building Division provides annual maintenance inspections of all commercial "inspectable" occupancies in the city.  These are commercial establishments such as stores, schools, offices and industrial businesses with the exception of home occupations.

The fire inspections are done for the express purpose of fire prevention.  By meeting with each building/store owner or manager, we can offer useful tips for preventing fires in each occupancy.  We also verify that required annual inspections and maintenance of fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems have been performed and are in operational condition.

Each business, school and industrial occupancy is inspected on an annual, bi-annual or tri-annual basis depending on the complexity and hazards contained in the building.  The inspections are performed by either building division staff or the staff of engine companies of Lacey Fire District 3, at the prerogative of the Building Division.
