4532 Lifeguard and Swim Instructors
Salary: $9.25 - $10.00 per hour (DOQ)
Status: Part-time, approximately 10 - 15 hours per week
Closing Date: Continuous opening; candidates are selected for interviews based on experience
THE POSITION
Lacey Parks and Recreation manages the three high school swimming pools: North Thurston, Timberline, and River Ridge. We are currently seeking applicants for: Lifeguard and Swim Instructor. Lifeguards are expected to follow the policy and procedures to maintain patron safety in facilities. The Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching swim lessons in accordance with the Parks and Recreation Department’s Learn to Swim Program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Lifeguards:
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification.
- Ability to respond appropriately in an emergency.
- Must pass the Washington State Background Check.
Swim Instructors:
- Must be able to work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Sundays 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Former experience in competitive or recreational swimming.
- Knowledge of basic swimming strokes (freestyle, backstroke).
- Interest and experience in working with kids in a caring and patient manner.
- Not necessary, although highly desired, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification or Water Safety Instructor Aide Certification.
- Must pass the Washington State Background Check.
BENEFIT PACKAGE
Temporary employees are not eligible for medical, dental or other insurance plans provided to full-time employees; however, they are covered by Workers’ Compensation; FICA and withholding taxes will be deducted from wages paid.
