4372b Full-time Temporary Parks Maintenance Aide
Salary: First year employee $12.24 per hour
Returning employee $13.31 per hour
Status: Full-time, six month temporary positions
Closing Date: Open recruitment pool through September 2012
THE POSITION
Under immediate or general supervision, individual learns to perform a variety of maintenance duties in parks, right-of-ways, and facilities. Use lawn mowers and hand tools. Some of the available positions will have a work week that includes weekends. All assignments are temporary.
QUALIFICATIONS
All applicants will have demonstrated ability to adhere to work rules and guidelines; demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude; park maintenance experience preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older; have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
All applicants must have a valid Washington State driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier. Must pass a background investigation. Must maintain a level of physical and mental fitness necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be complete as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act.
BENEFITS PACKAGE
Temporary employees are not eligible for health insurance, other insurances, holidays or paid leave benefits provided to regular full-time positions; however, they are covered by Workers’ Compensation Insurance. Social Security and Federal withholding taxes will be deducted from wages. This temporary assignment is a Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) eligible position.
