TEEN AND YOUTH PROGRAMS

Lacey Teen Council (L.T.C.)

The Lacey Teen Council is an advisory group of high school and middle school teens.  As a member of LTC, you will learn valuable skills, make new friends and have a lot of fun!  LTC’s purpose is to be a voice for teens and to promote a community where youth are valued and involved.  LTC provides opportunities for high school teens to develop leadership skills, plan teen events and community service projects, volunteer at city and teen events and serve as an advisory group.  Teens can earn a significant amount of volunteer hours for school requirements, college applications and job experience.

What does LTC do?

Lacey Teen Council members attend monthly meetings to plan and discuss volunteer events and community service projects.  LTC volunteers at teen events and often facilitates activities and programs at the events while acting as positive role models for middle school teens.  LTC acts as an advisory board to the City of Lacey, Teen Programs and community organizations who often attend meetings to get teen’s perspective and opinions.

LTC members volunteer at City of Lacey events, Lacey Teen Programs events and LTC volunteer events. The events are scheduled throughout the year and often are in the evenings or on weekends.

LTC advises Lacey Teen Program staff on promotional and marketing materials for teen programs and events.

With consistent attendance at LTC meetings and volunteer events teens can develop valuable job skills and leadership skills through training and hands-on experience.

Who serves on LTC?

LTC members are middle and high school students living in or attending school in the greater Lacey area, including North Thurston Public Schools, private and home-schooled students.

How do I join LTC?

High school and middle school teens can join at anytime during the school year.  Come check out a meeting on the second Monday of the month at the 5:30 p.m. in the Lacey City Hall Community Room (no meetings during summer vacation).

You can download the Lacey Teen Council Application and get started, or pick one up at your first meeting.
