COMMUNITY INVITED TO 20TH ANNIVERSARY 9/11 MEMORIAL EVENT
LACEY, WA, September 2, 2021: The City of Lacey, in partnership with Gateway Rotary Club of Thurston County, invites the community to a 20th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial event. The free, outdoor event will take place on Saturday, September 11, from 12:30 to 1 p.m. outside The Hub in Lacey (676 Woodland Square Loop SE).
The event will honor and remember the victims and first responders who courageously helped others during the tragic attacks at the World Trade Center, New York, and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, twenty years ago. It will include guest speakers from Lacey City Council, Lacey Fire District 3, and Lacey Police Department. The event will also feature a flag-folding ceremony by the Washington Air National Guard and performance by country artist and songwriter, Nick Nicholson.
Although face coverings are not required outdoors, the Washington State Department of Health strongly recommends all people, regardless of vaccination status, wear face coverings in crowded outdoor settings when they are not able to consistently maintain physical distance between non-household members. The City will monitor COVID-19 safety guidelines leading up to the event and provide an update, if necessary.
