COMMUNITY INVITED TO LACEY’S AFFORDABLE HOUSING STRATEGY PUBLIC HEARING JUNE 18
LACEY, WA, June 5, 2019: The City of Lacey Planning Commission invites the community to a public hearing on an Affordable Housing Strategy on Tuesday, June 18, at 7 p.m. at the Lacey City Hall Council Chambers, 420 College Street SE.
Lacey and its neighboring communities are in the midst of an affordable housing crisis. Thurston County has an estimated 14,000 households that are currently cost burdened in their rental unit and an additional 19,000 households that are cost burdened as owners. Many factors influence housing affordability such as employment, wages, unintended social issues, and internal/external market factors.
Lacey’s Affordable Housing Strategy document expands on the factors listed above that influence the housing dilemma and identifies strategies the City can take to reduce the effects of the housing affordability issue.
