LACEY, WA, June 29, 2021: Ever year the City performs a variety of preventative pavement maintenance to sustain a higher level of performance and delay the need for complete roadway rehabilitation. As part of the City of Lacey’s 2021 street overlay program, major road construction will take place on Orion Drive NE, between Willamette Drive NE to just north of the Orion/Meridian roundabout from 7 a.m., Wednesday, June 30 to 7 a.m., Saturday, July 17. Travelers can expect delays and detours at times during this work. Alternate routes are recommended.

LACEY, WA, June 25, 2021: In response to excessive heat temperatures forecasted this weekend and Monday, the City of Lacey in partnership with Senior Services for South Sound will open a cooling center targeted for seniors in our community.

LACEY, WA, June 24, 2021: Lacey City Manager Scott Spence announced today that Robert “Bob” Almada accepted the City’s offer to serve as Lacey’s next Police Chief. The announcement follows a nationwide search and comprehensive selection process done with Public Sector Search & Consulting. Almada will be the eighth Chief in the department’s 54-year history and will serve as a key member of the executive team. Almada will report directly to Mr. Spence.

The extreme weather forecast for the coming days is dangerous for those without shelter.
OLYMPIA – The National Weather Service has issued a forecast for temperatures over 100 degrees in the Puget Sound for the coming weekend. Because of the extreme weather forecast, Thurston County has declared a 4-day, 3-night hazardous weather event beginning Friday, June 25, and ending Tuesday, June 29.
